Shadilver - Jumpstart Chapter 7

Something's off

This morning I caught Shard smiling like an idiot. He was not himself and he barely listened to the teacher- well, not that it even matters if he actually listens to them, I mean, he barely attends classes anyways but always gets passing grades but that's not the point

He was sighing and obviously daydreaming about something

I tell you now people that that is not a good sign


Not. At. All


It has been a few weeks since I got Shadow to cooperate with me because of that pig experiment, which I still can't believe I managed to do considering that Shadow is one of the people who won't change their opinion.. anyway never mind that I'll save that story for later.

So after our lesson in Logic, Shard approached me, that stupid, goofy cheeky smile still present on his face

"Silver! My man! Old buddy old pal, I need you to do me a favor" Shard said loudly as he placed his arm on my shoulder, nearly choking my neck in the process

"No. The last time I did you a favor I almost lost my job."
    "Awwww, come on now Silver, don't be like that! You want me to pull that stick out of your ass so you won't be such a killjoy?"
    "You aren't getting your hands anywhere near my ass! ALSO I don't have a stick up my ass thank you very much"
    "You just proved my point"
    "S-shut up!"

Shard laughed as he released me from his arm (Not what you guys are thinking! geez, calm your fangirl hormones) Then I asked

"What's so special that I have to do you a favor? And why are you smiling like that? Stop it, it's scaring me"

A shy smile formed on his lips as his cheeks turned slightly pink "Oh, hehe, you see... Today is my 1 year anniversary with Nicole, and I want to make it special... I just want you to go and get the flowers I had stored in the guidance office for a little while. Luckily it's Thursday today, so we have the same lunch break. Whaddya say?"

I sighed, oh why can't I say no to someone? "Fine.. alright. But honestly, what's the point of celebrating your relationship monthly? You're just wasting money that should be used for more necessary things. And it's not like it's certain that you will live together forever, you're still both students so things will get in your way, like studying. I think these kinds of things are pointless and unnecessary"

I regret saying all those things as soon as it left my mouth. I saw Shard's eyes flash with anger and hurt.

Sometimes, I just hate myself for not being careful with my words and just saying things that comes to mind; That's why I tend to stay quiet, so I won't hurt people with my words

"Hey, you shut up! You sound like my uncle! God damn I know already alright?? To you it may be meaningless but you do things to show the person you love that you appreciate them! You don't know anything about love!"

His words hit homerun. I stayed quiet. I really regret saying them now

"You just don't know what it feels like to be loved and be in love. It's just an amazing feeling alright? Now, are you going to do me a favor or what?" Though he calmed down, I can still here the irritation in his voice.

*sigh* might as well right? I owe him that much I guess

It was our lunch break and guess what? When Nicole came, Larry began playing some cheesy music for the mood and all of my friends were so into it! And then after I handed Shard the huge bouquet and gave to Nicole, Nicole gave him a kiss and Lyco and Leeta started squealing. Elias was cheering them on too, and Amy, who happened to have passed by, also began squealing at the little love fest in front of us, their voices drowning out the music playing

It's always like this whenever Shard and Nicole celebrate their monthsary or whatever-sary it was called

We were getting some stares from the other students since we were making such a huge scene in the cafeteria

With that goofy smile never leaving his face, Shard embraced Nicole tightly before sitting down "I love you so much Nicole!" he said

"And I love you so much too Shard hehe" Nicole answered back, her bright green eyes shining with happiness and Shard slid his fingers through her jet-black hair

Whenever I see Shard and Nicole like that, I always feel odd

Shard turned to face me "Thanks for the help man! I couldn't have done it without you!"
    "Hey, don't thank me, all I did was carry the flowers"
    "Still! Without those flowers, my plan would've failed!"

I smile as my reply. Who am I to ruin such a happy moment, right?

Nicole was so happy with Shard and vice-versa.. Again, seeing them so happy made me feel odd.. Not in a bad way but.. not in a good way either.. more like.. in a neutral way?

"Aww man, I wish I chose PT instead of I.T., my classmates are no fun and everyone's mostly on their own.. But you guys, you guys seem to keep such strong friendships, even your other classmates who aren't in your circle of friends are close with you guys" Nicole said as she cuddled next to her boyfriend

"If you want I can change my course to I.T.; it's what I really wanted in the first place"
    "hmm.. nahhh, I think I want someone who can take care of me and my kids"
    "w-woah, thinking that far into the future already?" Shard blushed a furious red at Nicole's words

I think I may be the only one who's never been in a relationship; Shard has Nicole, Elias says his girlfriend is studying in a different country, Leeta and Lyco had highschool sweathearts but Lyco isn't with in a relationship at the moment and Larry... 

Well, Larry is different, He is just so unlucky

Maybe I should call him, "Bad Luck Larry?"

That should be a meme of some sort! yeah! Bad Luck Larry!

"what are you thinking about"

A deep voice snaps me back to reality "huh?" I forgot that I was actually at his house

Shadow shook his head almost disapprovingly and repeated his question with his usual poker face "Has all that studying made you deaf? I said what are you thinking about?"

I will not lie when I tell you people that I was flabbergasted when Shadow bothered to ask what was on my mind. IS IBLIS COMING BACK TO DESTROY THE WORLD OR SOMETHING????

"N-no, why? Why are you asking me this?" I asked him nervously as I observed his actions and so far, they seem very genuine.

"Alright" came Shadow's abrupt response. He sat down on the couch next to me but didn't look at me at all. The silence filled the room once again and I found myself breaking it. Again.

Only this time it wasn't because it was awkward, this time because I needed someone else's advice. I sighed, feeling a bit frustrated

"It's just that, I feel bad because I think I might've ruined my friend's monthsary"
    "Mo-mosa what?" Shadow looked at me very confused
    "Oh yeah, this is the first time you've heard that word; a monthsary is a sort of anniversary that lovers, usually done by boyfriends and girlfriends, celebrate to commemorate the day when they do become officially in a relationship every month"

Shadow was giving me an odd look "Well that's stupid, why would you even bother to celebrate the day that your relationship started every month? Isn't it enough that you're actually with the person? I think that it's a total waste of time" He said

"Exactly! It's a total waste of money as well! They should just be happy that they're in a relationship in the first place!" I couldn't help but exclaim; Finally! Someone who agrees with me!!

I heard a chuckle coming from Shadow's direction before he spoke "Alright I see how you feel about it but why do you feel bad?" I looked away
    "Well, because I made Shard mad when I told him my opinion. He was just asking me for a favor but then I couldn't control my mouth so I think I've ruined this special day for him"

I felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked up, but Shadow wasn't actually looking at me. I think he is trying to comfort me? Is this how he comforts anybody? Now that I think about it, has he ever comforted anybody? Because the look on Shadow's face tells me it's a bit awkward for him, but I commemorate him for trying

"Shouldn't friends be accepting of their opinions? You just told him how you view that mosentery thing and your not actually hurting anybody with it. It's his problem for getting way too worked up on your opinion; he should be mature enough to know that not everybody sees things the same way that he does, and someone is bound to disagree in what he believes in."

"But he is my friend; I don't want to offend him in anyway"
    "Silver, you are don't always have to be the one adjusting to what your friends want; what about what you want? Shouldn't your 'friends' be mindful of your own thoughts on things too?"

Listening to his words carefully, I couldn't help but realize just how right he is

"You know, you actually have some really wise words to say, if you were given the chance to say them. Maybe if you weren't so grumpy all the time people would listen to you" I told Shadow. He placed his hand away from my shoulder and crossed his arms on his chest- the usual Shadow pose

"Hmph, spew more sappy shit like that and I might regret for bothering to cheer you up. Now, are you going to make me walk, or are you going to just sit there and whine?"

I stood up, feeling more confident thanks to Shadow

"Let's do this. Oh, and fyi, it's called a monthsary"
