The sound of the heart monitor echoes in the white, empty room, slicing through the deathly silence.
I held your hand tight, gently squeezing it. Different types of tubes attached all over your body, the only thing still keeping you alive.

=FLASHBACK=

I was standing by the riverbed, frustrated. I still couldn't believe what I've seen! I looked at the palm of my hand; a ring sat on it. Anger got the best of me and I threw it as far as I could, never wanting to see the damn thing ever again because it reminded me of what we had. Then out of the blue, that sorry excuse for a hedgehog was running towards me at speeds only he can do.

"SHADOOOOWW!!!!"

I ignored him, turned, then started to walk away. I don't want to see his face. HE STOLE MY SILVER FROM ME!!

The blue vermin caught up to me at last. "Shadow! I have something very important to tell you!"he said in between breaths, his eyes were filled with panic "It's about silver! He-" "I don't want to hear anything about you OR silver!" I yelled, he's probably going to tell me how happy they are now.

He seemed surprised.. "okay shadow what on earth is going on with your head?? Don't you care about silver anymore?!? What the hell happened between the two of you?! " THAT'S NONE OF YOUR FUCKING BUSINESS FAKER!!" I roared. How dare he?? "and DON'T you play dumb with me asshole!! I am very aware what you two have been doing together! Don't you know I observe you all the time?!" I continued, I was just simply enraged. "WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!!" he yelled back, I had to cover my sensitive ears from the sheer volume of his scream.

"I'VE SEEN YOU HUGGING SILVER!"

"THAT'S WHY YOU'RE FUCKING UPSET??? I ONLY DID THAT TO COMFORT HIM BECAUSE YOU" he pointed at me "LEFT HIM!!"

I punched Sonic square in the face. "I LEFT HIM BECAUSE HE WAS CHEATING ON ME!!" I felt a hard kick to my sides. " Silver NEVER cheated on you!!" "Mephiles told me! He even showed me that you two were enjoying each other a little too much!!" I said as I kicked him on the stomach.

He didn't stand up immediately. But the glint in his eyes told me that he was really fucking pissed. " Mephiles told you? MEPHILES told YOU?? WHY WOULD YOU BELIEVE WHAT MEPHILES WILL EVER TELL YOU?! HE ONLY WANTED SILVER FOR HIMSELF YOU JACKASS!!" he approached me, grabbed me by my chest fur then lifted me a few inches from the ground. "AND BECAUSE YOU BELIEVED HIM SILVER JUMPED OFF A BUILDING!!!" he dropped me to the ground. I couldn't believe what I just heard. Silver committed suicide? I know I didn't want to see him but why? I never actually wanted him dead! He was still important to me!

My knees suddenly felt weak from the news, my heart was beating wildly in my chest. My Silver is... dead? No!

Sonic calmed down a bit before saying " and now he's in a hospital..." I felt a hand over my shoulder. I didn't bother to look up, I was still too preoccupied by the thought of my precious angel dead. "Shadow, let's go"

I looked at your features, somehow, you still look so immaculate.I ran my fingers through your quills, brushing any quill that was out of place. I shut my eyes, I remembered what the nurse told me and his words have been echoing in my mind "It was a miracle he survived, he was indeed very lucky, before he hit the ground some movers were taking this bed to their truck parked outside the building, so he landed on the bed rather than cement. But that didn't save him from the damages on his body.. He may be in a coma, never to wake up. Or, if he did ever wake up, he may never be able to walk, stand or talk ever again; his spineand back were the ones to take most of the impact. He could be in paralysis, we may never know. We're sorry, Mr. shadow, we've done all we could for the boy; it's up to him if he will ever make it."

I remember how I felt when I saw the state you were in; covered in bandages and tubes, I thought they were using you for an experiment or something, because I know what it feels like to have multiple needles and tubes inserted in your body. I remember I freaked out and started to destroy everything near me, I started yelling. Not even Sonic or Rouge could calm me down from my fit. I had to be sedated before I calmed down.


"I'm so sorry" It's no use. No matter how many times I apologize, you may never come back. If only I didn't believe what mephi- Mephiles. It's all his fault! I should never have believed a single syllable uttered by that demon! He did this to him! He corrupted my mind and heart with his lies!! I will kill him the next time I see him I swear I will!! I should've seen that he was lusting for my beloved Silver, I should've known he will do anything to take my love away from me! I am such a fool! I should've known those visions he have shown me were lies! And I believed them! I hate him for it! I hate him!! I will murder him!


beep... beep... beep... beep...


the sound of the heart monitor brought me back from my thoughts.


I am such a fool for believing that monster! Now I shall pay the price, by losing another person precious to me!


I am a black-hearted fool.


I placed my head on my free hand, trying to prevent tears from falling but to no avail. I let them fall, not ashamed to shed them because they are for you, my treasure.

But what was I to do? I left you because I was jealous, I loved you so much it hurt me to leave you, yet the lies Mephiles filled my head has blinded me from the truth; you'd never lie to me, I should've known that beforehand.


I kept my hand over yours, my heart being filled with an ever-growing regret and self-hatred.


I need to clear my head, so I went to the roof to catch a breath. If you ever woke up, will you forgive me? I understand if you won't... I probably don't deserve your love anymore.

"Mephiles" I said, my words dripping with so much hatred... He dare show his face here?!

"Why hello there, Shadow" I didn't bother to look back. I'd probably kill him right there and then if I saw him.

"what do you want?" i growled. He chuckled, obviously amused from my distress..

"what do you think about my creation? I think he looks even more appealing covered in bandages like that~" I lashed out at him, only missing by a few centimeters

"YOU SICK FUCKTARD!! STAY AWAY FROM HIM!!" he approached me slowly without any hesitation "Ohh, but remember shadow, I saw him first, I laid my eyes on his beautiful form before you, I wanted him and his body before you did" he laughed so evilly and maniacally after whispering it softly in my ear. That fucking psychopath! I growled out loud then grabbed his neck, then I looked at him, my eyes filled with a dangerous fury were practically glowing.

"Bwhahahahahaha! are you going to kill me now, are you? How amusing!" he smirked at me, his lizard green eyes were twinkling with cockiness. I will rub that smirk off of his face! " go ahead, if you kill me now, I wonder what silver will think about you-" "Don't bring Silver into this!"

It was then when he looked at me. He just looked at me. No emotion or anything; almost like he was staring into my very soul

"Do what you want, shadow the hedgehog, but he will be mine soon" then he just disappeared. I became scared. I went back to your room, hoping he hasn't done anything to you. I sighed in relief, good, you're still fine. I sat down next you your motionless body and watched as your chest rose and fell, still my heart was aching with regret.

You promised him, you promised to protect him, to never leave him, and what did you do? The exact opposite of your promise. A deep sigh passed my tan lips, gently I traced my gloved hand over your beautiful face, caressing your cheek with my thumb; and saw just how much pain you were in. I winced at the thought of you jumping off a high rise trying to end all suffering. I clenched my fist, I am worthless....

I ran my other hand over to my red-streaked ebony quills, only to pull out a small, round, cold object.


A ring


It was the exact ring I threw away; unfortunately when I threw the object away it hit that blue faker on the head, so he returned it to me since he knows it belonged to me. Gently I lifted your hand and placed the ring on your finger. My heart quenched. Things would be better if I hadn't believed that soulless demon, this is where we would be if I wasn't blinded by rage..

I promise, Silver, my precious Silver, my beloved, I will never leave your side, ever again....


=5 months later=

 I walked towards the hospital, holding a bouquet of violets. He likes violets, he told me they reminded him of his dear friend Blaze. I hurried to the hospital so that my beloved will appreciate what I bought him, even if he hadn't woken up yet...

I felt my heart squeezing when I thought of that. It's been 6 months since he's been confined in the hospital. And he wasn't getting any better. The doctors were suggesting I'd do euthanasia;they say it was for his own good. But I said otherwise.. No way in hell will I do that! I'd rather be damned to hell than end my beloved treasure's life.

I entered your room and the male nurse, who was an orange-furred wolf with violet eyes, was about to give you a sponge bath and told me to wait outside while he cleaned you.

Then, my greatest fear has happened.

I heard the erratic beat of the heart monitor and the nurse was screaming, doctors came rushing in and rushed you to the ER. I remember hearing them say "he won't make it much longer, we have to do everything it takes to save this boy's life!"

I followed them and watched as they made their way to the operating room, then they closed the door that separates me and Silver, leaving me to wait behind the doors, anticipating whether or not if you will ever make it..


Will I ever be with you? Will you ever live? Will you ever wake up? 



Please don't leave me Silver, I love you...
